NX Escort Refit Stats and Equipment
The NX Escort Refit brings classic Enterprise styling to a Tier 6 escort with a damage trait built around switching firing modes. This Star Trek Online NX Escort Refit stats and builds guide explains its scaling hull, console layout, and two ways to use Preferential Targeting. Plan around that trait’s activation requirements before choosing your bridge officer abilities.
The ship becomes usable after completing the tutorial, with equipment slots and hull capacity expanding as your captain levels. Its standard console layout reaches five Tactical, four Engineering, and two Science slots at level 40.
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Ship tier | Tier 6 |
| Hull modifier | 1.125 |
| Base hull at level 40 | 33,750 |
| Base hull at level 60 | 45,000 |
| Base hull at level 65 | 50,625 |
| Tactical consoles at level 40+ | 5 |
| Engineering consoles at level 40+ | 4 |
| Science consoles at level 40+ | 2 |
| Temporal specialist seat | Lieutenant Commander Universal–Temporal Operative |
| Pilot specialist seat | Lieutenant Tactical–Pilot |
| Additional weapon slot | Experimental Weapon |
Those hull figures describe the ship’s base scaling, rather than a finished build’s total hull.
Its first four mastery levels add +5 Accuracy Rating, +5% Defense, +10% Kinetic Damage and +10% All Energy Damage, followed by +2.5% Critical Chance. At mastery level V, it unlocks Preferential Targeting, the central mechanic behind the firing-mode setups below.

Beam Overload Setup With Preferential Targeting
Preferential Targeting grants 100% additional damage to Beam: Overload and Cannon: Rapid Fire for 30 seconds after activating Beam: Fire at Will or Cannon: Scatter Volley, while the trait is slotted.

For a Beam Overload setup, build your ability selection around a trigger and a beneficiary:
| Build component | Selection | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Starship trait | Preferential Targeting | Enables the triggered damage bonus |
| Trigger ability | Cannon: Scatter Volley | Activates the trait’s 30-second bonus |
| Benefiting ability | Beam: Overload | Receives the additional damage |
Slot the trait before planning your rotation around it. Activating a trigger without Preferential Targeting equipped does not provide this trait’s bonus.
Use Cannon: Scatter Volley to activate Preferential Targeting, then place your Beam: Overload attacks within the bonus window. Choose beam weapons around that intended firing mode rather than treating Scatter Volley as the damage focus of this setup.
Keep the distinction between triggering and benefiting abilities clear. Beam: Fire at Will can activate the trait, but the listed beam damage bonus applies to Beam: Overload.
Cannon: Rapid Fire Setup With Preferential Targeting
The same trait also supports a Cannon: Rapid Fire setup. Here, use Beam: Fire at Will as the activation ability and Cannon: Rapid Fire as the firing mode receiving the bonus.

| Build component | Selection | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Starship trait | Preferential Targeting | Enables the triggered damage bonus |
| Trigger ability | Beam: Fire at Will | Activates the trait’s 30-second bonus |
| Benefiting ability | Cannon: Rapid Fire | Receives the additional damage |
Build your weapon selection around Cannon: Rapid Fire, then arrange your abilities so its attacks fall inside Preferential Targeting’s active window.
Do not mistake Cannon: Scatter Volley for a beneficiary of this trait. It activates Preferential Targeting; the cannon ability receiving the listed additional damage is Cannon: Rapid Fire.
Choose between these setups based on the firing mode you intend to support. Both use the same mastery trait, so unlocking it gives you a reason to revisit your bridge officer layout.
Point Defense Bombardment Warhead and Upgrades
The included Point Defense Bombardment Warhead universal console launches micro-torpedoes across an area before its main payload strikes. It belongs to the Synergistic Retrofitting Set, whose other consoles can provide additional abilities and set bonuses.

Consider the set connection when selecting consoles, rather than equipping pieces solely because they share a set name. Keep the warhead’s area attack in mind when choosing targets for its activation.
The Experimental Weapon slot accepts experimental weapons rather than standard ship weapons. Experimental weapons are unaffected by bridge officer weapon firing modes, so keep their contribution separate when planning either Preferential Targeting setup.
An Experimental Ship Upgrade Token upgrades this escort to T6-X, adding:
- One ship device slot.
- One universal console slot.
- One additional starship trait slot.
Use those extra slots to expand your existing setup after establishing its firing-mode interaction.
How to Get the NX Escort Refit
The NX Escort Refit costs 900 Lobi Crystals through the Lobi Crystal Consortium. Its unbound boxed version can also be traded or purchased on the Exchange with energy credits. Search for Special Requisition Pack - NX Escort Refit [T6].
An account-unlock version has also appeared in Mudd's Faith of the Heart Choice Pack. Check the purchase option’s unlock scope when comparing it with an Exchange box.
Starfleet captains and Federation-aligned Romulan Republic and Dominion captains can fly it. Its faction restrictions can also be removed by having a level 65 KDF character or purchasing the Cross Faction Flying unlock from the Zen Store.
Keep the NX Escort Refit and Legendary Columbia Temporal Operative Escort names distinct while shopping: the Legendary Columbia is a separate ship.
