How to Get Lobi Crystals
If you’re looking up “Star Trek Online how to get Lobi Crystals,” check event rewards before buying keys. You can obtain this specialty currency through certain lock boxes, promotional packs, qualifying events, and specific Zen Store bundles. Choosing the right route matters because opening packs for a Lobi ship can cost considerably more than buying that ship with Energy Credits.
The main acquisition methods work differently:
- Lock boxes: Open eligible boxes using Master Keys to receive Lobi alongside other rewards.
- Infinity Promotion! packs: Eligible Research & Development and Duty Officer packs award Lobi when you don’t win a ship.
- Event Campaigns and special promotions: Complete qualifying events when their rewards include Lobi.
- Specific Zen Store bundles: Purchase a bundle that explicitly includes Lobi, or select a Lobi reward when the bundle offers that choice.
Lobi Crystals are bound to your account. You cannot buy the crystals themselves from another player or list them on the Exchange.

Get Lobi Through Event Campaigns
Event Campaigns offer a route to Lobi without purchasing lock box keys or promotional packs. Their rewards depend on the campaign, so read the campaign reward panel before committing to a particular target.

Event Campaign VI in 2024 awarded 1,500 Lobi Crystals alongside its premium T6 starship choice and T6 coupons. That campaign no longer required choosing between those three reward categories.
The spending potential is substantial: at a 20% Lobi Store discount, two ships normally priced at 900 Lobi each would cost 1,440 total, leaving 60 from a 1,500-Lobi reward.
Check the participating events and campaign progress requirements in-game. Don’t assume every standalone event awards Lobi simply because it contributes to a larger campaign.
Older advice about collecting crystals during featured episode reruns is outdated. Those rerun rewards have been retired, so replaying those missions is no longer a Lobi farming method.
Open Lock Boxes or Promotional Packs

Lock Boxes and Master Keys
Opening eligible lock boxes is a repeatable way to accumulate Lobi. Each opening consumes a Master Key, and the Lobi yield varies.
Set your spending limit before opening boxes. A run of openings does not guarantee a particular ship, and variable crystal rewards make a fixed key budget different from a guaranteed Lobi total.
If your goal is a tradeable Lobi ship, compare its Exchange price before consuming any keys. Selling keys for Energy Credits and purchasing the ship directly can require much less spending than opening boxes to collect its full Lobi price.
Infinity Promotion! Packs
The relevant promotional Research & Development and Duty Officer packs award 10 Lobi when you don’t win a ship.
The promotional distinction matters. Ordinary R&D packs and Duty Officer packs are not automatically the versions that offer a ship chance and Lobi.
Before purchasing:
- Read the pack’s description.
- Look for the promotional text identifying its chance to award a ship.
- Confirm that you are buying the promotional variant rather than the ordinary pack.
These promotions are not continuously available. Buy based on the actual reward description, rather than assuming every pack with a similar name has the same contents.
Also, don’t budget every promotional opening as both a ship and 10 Lobi: the Lobi is the alternative reward when the ship is not won.
Buy Lobi Through Specific Zen Store Bundles
Some Zen Store bundles include Lobi directly or offer it among their selectable rewards. Examples include the 11th Anniversary Legendary Bundle and certain Mudd’s Market Choice Packs.

Read the full contents before purchasing. A bundle containing ships or equipment associated with the Lobi Store does not automatically include crystals.
For choice packs, check which selections grant Lobi and which grant other rewards. Compare the bundle’s price with the rewards you actually want, especially if you are purchasing mainly for its currency.
If your real goal is using a particular ship across several characters, examine relevant Mudd’s bundles separately. Selected ships obtained through those bundles can provide account-wide access, while buying a Lobi ship for one character serves a different purpose.
Spend Less at the Lobi Crystal Consortium
You can spend crystals at the Lobi Crystal Consortium on Drozana Station. You can also open the store directly by right-clicking and using a crystal, or by double-clicking one.
The store sells ships, space equipment, ground weapons, costumes, pets, and devices. These examples show how widely prices differ:
| Item | Listed Lobi Price |
|---|---|
| Undine Kiwavi Bio-Cruiser [T6] | 900 |
| Console - Universal - Covert Mine Layer Suite | 200 |
| Micro-Missile Array | 100 |
| Romulan Repeater Pistol (Kelvin) | 50 |
| Ground Non-Combat Pet Pack - Random Aetherian Drone | 30 |
| Admiralty System Booster Pack | 5 |
Wait for a Lobi Store sale before a large purchase. A 20% discount reduces a 900-Lobi ship to 720, saving 180 crystals. Sales occur regularly, but use the discount displayed in-game when planning your purchase.
Save limited Lobi for items that bind immediately when purchased, such as certain consoles and weapons. Those purchases cannot be replaced by buying the same item from another player.
For tradeable ships, search the Exchange first. Buying a ship with Energy Credits gets you the ship without consuming your crystals; it does not award Lobi. Compare current listings rather than relying on old prices, since both ships and keys trade through the player economy.
Transfer Crystals Between Your Characters
Lobi Crystals are account-bound, so you can move them between characters through the account bank. You cannot transfer them to another player’s account.
Move the crystals to the character making the purchase, then read the item’s binding and unlock description before spending. Account-bound currency does not make every purchase an account-wide unlock.
For faction-specific ships, Cross-Faction Flying may be required to view, purchase, and unbox the ship. Check that requirement before moving your crystals and planning the purchase.
