How to Earn Fleet Credits

Wondering in Star Trek Online how to get fleet credits for fleet gear and ships? Donate resources to active fleet projects, and activate a Fleet Credit Boost to increase your earnings by 20% while its bonus pool lasts. Finding open contribution slots gives you somewhere to turn those stockpiled resources into spending money.

You need to belong to a fleet to contribute. From there:

  1. Open your fleet interface and find an active starbase or holding project.
  2. Select a resource requirement that still needs contributions.
  3. Choose the resources or eligible duty officers you want to donate.
  4. Check the displayed Fleet Credit reward before confirming.

Your payout depends on what you contribute and how much. Fleet Marks, duty officers, and Dilithium each offer a route, but pay attention to the specific requirement you are filling.

ContributionFleet Credits earned
1 Fleet Mark in a standard project50
1 Fleet Mark in Unload Surplus Fleet Marks25
1 Dilithium toward a project's actual Dilithium requirement3
1 Common duty officer500
1 Uncommon duty officer1,500

The newer Dilithium contribution rate is 3 Fleet Credits per Dilithium. That rate applies to a project's actual Dilithium requirement; using Dilithium to replace duty officers follows the duty officer contribution value instead.

Turn Fleet Marks Into Credits

Fleet Marks and Fleet Credits are separate currencies. Earning marks supplies the resource; donating them to a fleet project earns the credits.

At the standard contribution rate, each Fleet Mark earns 50 Fleet Credits. Check ordinary projects across your fleet and Armada before using a surplus project, because the surplus conversion pays half as much.

For a gameplay route to marks, Crystalline Catastrophe on Advanced is one option. Select Fleet Marks when collecting the relevant reward. A Fleet Mark bonus pool increases the marks you earn, while a Fleet Credit bonus pool increases credits from contributions—check which boost you are activating.

When to Use the Surplus Project

A fleet with a Tier 5 starbase can slot Unload Surplus Fleet Marks, which takes 2,000 Fleet Marks and pays 25 Fleet Credits per mark.

Use it when you have excess marks and cannot find ordinary projects that need them. Ask a fleet manager to slot it if your available projects are full.

Use Dilithium and Fleet Dilithium Vouchers

Dilithium can produce a large payout when an open project needs it. Filling an 18,000-Dilithium requirement earns 54,000 Fleet Credits before a Fleet Credit Boost adds its bonus.

Check the contribution category carefully. The three-to-one payout belongs to the Dilithium requirement itself, even when another part of the same project lets you substitute Dilithium for duty officers.

Fleet Dilithium Vouchers also work for fleet project contributions. These vouchers are restricted to their project system; they cannot pay the Dilithium cost of items in fleet stores.

Earn Vouchers Through Klingon Admiralty

Completing all 10 steps of the Klingon Empire Tour of Duty in Admiralty awards 40,000 Fleet Dilithium Vouchers.

Contributing that amount toward actual Dilithium requirements earns:

  • 120,000 Fleet Credits at the base rate.
  • 144,000 Fleet Credits with enough bonus pool remaining to cover the full 20% bonus.

Keep the Tour of Duty progressing between your other activities. Its reward provides a repeatable contribution resource without requiring a cash purchase. Some recruitment task and account rewards also provide Fleet Dilithium Vouchers.

Exchange Existing Mining Claims

If you already have eligible Dilithium mining claims, the claim exchange at the Vl'Hutta asteroid field offers another route.

In the main room, go up the ramp and speak with the Ferengi who handles the exchange. Select Fleet Dilithium Vouchers rather than reputation vouchers.

Each exchanged claim provides 2,500 Fleet Dilithium Vouchers. You can exchange up to 50 claims per selection, then repeat the selection for additional claims.

Duty officer contributions can clear project requirements and earn credits at the same time. Common officers contribute 500 Fleet Credits, while Uncommon officers contribute 1,500.

The newer contribution system also accepts higher-rarity duty officers at their equivalent Common-officer value. A Very Rare duty officer counts as 27 Common officers.

You do not need to break that officer down manually. If the project needs fewer officers than the equivalent contribution supplies, the excess goes into the fleet's coffer for future projects, while you receive the full contribution's Fleet Credit value.

Before using automatic selection:

  • Turn on protected status for valuable duty officers.
  • Protect officers assigned to builds or abilities you want to keep.
  • Review the selected officers before confirming the donation.

You can change an officer's protected status through its right-click options. Do this before selecting a batch: contributing a valuable officer for credits gives up that officer.

Where the project offers Dilithium as a substitute for duty officers, check the displayed reward before donating. The payout follows the officers being replaced, rather than the three-to-one rate for a dedicated Dilithium requirement.

Activate a Fleet Credit Bonus Pool Before Donating

A Fleet Credit Boost adds 20% to contribution earnings until its bonus pool runs out. Pool sizes include 5,000 and 25,000 bonus Fleet Credits.

That pool represents the extra credits available, rather than the base contribution amount. For example, a donation worth 100,000 Fleet Credits receives 20,000 additional credits, consuming 20,000 from an active pool.

Activate the boost before making a large contribution. Multiple boosts can build up your available bonus pool, but they do not raise the bonus percentage above 20%.

Fleet Credit Boosts are available through the player Exchange, and smaller versions are available in the Phoenix store's Rare tab. Compare the cost before buying: the boost adds a finite amount of currency.

Do not confuse these with Fleet Mark boosts. One increases credits earned from donations; the other increases marks earned from eligible activities.

Find More Contribution Slots Through Your Armada

A full project cannot accept more of a resource it already has. If your fleet's Fleet Mark or duty officer slots fill quickly, check the Armada interface.

An Armada can give you access to projects in up to 12 other fleets, for 13 fleets total including your own. Contributions depend on your fleet allowing outgoing donations and the receiving fleet accepting them.

Check the available fleets for unfinished requirements, then contribute resources you already have. Helping another fleet's projects still gives you opportunities to earn Fleet Credits.

Fleet managers can also run special projects with large resource requirements. These take 30 minutes and award relatively little starbase XP, but create additional contribution space for members. Ask for those projects when your fleet regularly runs out of places to donate.

Watch the Cap and Spend Toward Your Next Purchase

Each character can hold 10,000,000 Fleet Credits. Once you reach the cap, you stop earning more until your balance drops below it.

Check your balance before making a large donation or consuming a bonus pool. Spend toward a purchase you already want before contributing more resources near the limit.

Fleet Credits are used for fleet equipment, consumables, duty officers, and fleet ships unlocked through the Fleet Advancement System. The starbase Operations Quartermaster and vendors at other holdings offer equipment and consumables, while fleet ship purchases are handled through shipyards.

For duty officers, visit the starbase Personnel Officer. On the Federation starbase, the commissioning vendor is in the room to the left; on the KDF starbase, the vendor is near the transporter in the southeast corner.

Your earned Fleet Credits stay with the character when you leave a fleet or join another one. You can keep that balance while moving to a fleet with more active projects or access to the purchases you want.
